Trustworthy Orthodontist in Fountain Valley

Dr. Chuck Carlson is a Huntington Beach-based orthodontist serving all of Orange County and beyond. A true Southern California native, Dr. Carlson was born and raised in Orange County. Dr. Carlson earned his Bachelor’s degree in Dental Studies from UCLA.

After graduating, Dr. Carlson continued his dental education in Los Angeles, CA at UCLA School of Dentistry. He went on to graduate from dental school summa cum laude and was then accepted into the orthodontic residency program at UCLA where he completed a two-year graduate degree specializing in orthodontics and facial orthopedics.

Upon completion of his orthodontic residency, Dr. Carlson also received his master’s degree in oral and craniofacial Biology. Dr. Carlson’s research contributions include furthering automated analysis of three-dimensional surface morphology in craniofacial structures.

His research has been published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (AJODO), where his work was later chosen as the 2017 Case Report of the Year by the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics.

Dr. Philip Nisco has practiced orthodontics in Fountain Valley since 1986 and in Lake Arrowhead since 1988. He was born in Massachusetts and moved to Fountain Valley in 1971, where he attended elementary school and high school.

Dr. Nisco earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from UC Irvine. After graduating, Dr. Nisco continued his dental education in Los Angeles, CA at UCLA School of Dentistry.

He went on to graduate from dental school and was then accepted into the orthodontic residency program at the University of Connecticut, where he completed a two-year graduate degree specializing in orthodontics and facial orthopedics.

Upon completion of his orthodontic residency, Dr. Nisco also received his certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Nisco is also a member of the Cleft and Craniofacial Team at CHOC, and belongs to the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and American Association of Orthodontists.

Dr. Nisco maintained a part-time faculty appointment at the UCLA School of Dentistry from 1986 through 2003, where he taught biomechanics to the residents and dental students.
