Ceramic Bridges
A bridge, which is also known as a fixed partial denture, is a restoration used to replace missing teeth by joining permanently to adjacent natural teeth, or dental implants. There are many styles of bridges, fabricated from various types of materials, all based on the patient's particular need.
Bridges are created by reducing the size of the tooth/teeth on either side of the missing one/ones and joining the units together as a single unit. The bridge is then either cemented or bonded to the existing teeth. The materials used for the bridges include gold, porcelain fused to metal, or full porcelain/full ceramic. Each type of material is used for different reasons and within the last decade great strides have been made in dentistry to create materials that provide both esthetic beauty and durability.
